Downtown Greensburg boasts a rich history, serving as the heart of our community for 150 years. Here, visitors and residents alike can explore a diverse range of shops and local businesses. Within a few blocks, you can enjoy sushi, Chinese, Indonesian, barbecue, a classic Hoosier tenderloin, and delicious pies. Recent revitalization efforts, including initiatives like READI 1.0 and the Preserving Main Street project, have attracted significant public and private investments to our downtown area. We aim to enhance the downtown living experience by introducing market-rate apartments. While we currently offer second-floor rentals, there’s a pressing need to accommodate new graduates, transplants, and empty nesters with modern, high-quality housing. Imagine living within walking distance of our vibrant murals, local eateries, entertainment venues, and the newly transformed event space housed in a former Catholic church—one of Southeastern Indiana’s premier event and wedding locations. The project start date was September 1st, 2025 and the end date is May 31st, 2027 with the project financing date being December 31, 2025. Matching partners include the City of Greensburg and Iron Men Properties. READI 2.0 funds will be used for concrete, masonry, metals, woods, plastics, composites, moisture protection, equipment, plumbing, earthwork, exterior improvements, utilities, and engineering.
